Homeland Security Denies Right of Passage for

Yaqui Ceremonial Leaders

February 6, 2016: Homeland Security is denying Yaquis entry into Arizona to participate in the Lent Ceremonies to be held at New Pascua this upcoming week.
This has never been a problem before.

Many of the Ceremonial Leaders do not possess visas or passports to cross, however in the past authorities have allowed passage based on receiving a letter from the Yaqui Tribal Council with a list of the names.

Right now the Yaquis from Sonora have a letter authorizing 20 specific individuals to cross. Unfortunately, Homeland Security is saying only 10 can cross. There is a need for all 20 because we don't have the participants and dancers we need for the ceremonies on this side of the border.

Please help us fight for our right of mobility across the border. We need your help in calling the following authorities to let them know that this decision will not stand. Be respectful, but remain firm with your demand to allow safe passage of ALL twenty of our Yaqui Leaders.
